OUR STORY
In 1960 plans were made to facilitate the linking of Women’s Inter-Church Councils already existing in all States and Territories. An Interim Planning committee was set up by the then Australian Council of Churches to draft a Constitution, which was ratified in 1965. The strong Christian foundation of the Women’s Inter-Church Councils is appreciated and continued by Australian Church Women today.
The aims and objectives of ACW are to:
Australian Church Women Inc. supports:

Promote the ecumenical spirit in everything undertaken by Australian Church Women;

Unite Christian women;

Promote co-operation, understanding and reconciliation between men and women in Church, family and society;

Help Christian women to take a more effective place in the total life and mission of the Church, and
-
Encourage fellowship, service and understanding nationally and internationally.

The Fellowship of The Least Coin, a global movement of prayer for peace, justice and reconciliation;

And is responsible for the Winifred Kiek Scholarship Fund which enables women to do further study in an area which will better equip them for service in the church and community

Encourages the observance of the World Day of Prayer;

Participates in the Asian Church Women’s Conference through an Australian representative on the General Committee (See ACWC blog at www.acwc.blogspot.com).

Maintains relationships and dialogue with the National Council of Churches and other ecumenical bodies and member denominations.
