ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL CUSTODIANS OF THE LAND

We acknowledge the First Nations peoples of Australia as the traditional custodians of this land.

We respect past and present Elders and are thankful for their wisdom which has sustained their people since the beginning of time.

We will support emerging and future First Nations leaders and their people.

PRAYERS  OF  PRAISE  AND  PETITION

Leader:

Father God, we praise you for your great love for us in sending Jesus to be our Saviour and Lord. We praise you for your guidance in all aspects of our lives.

We thank you for all members of Australian Church Women over the past 60 years. We celebrate them and are grateful for all they have given through their service and talents, their encouragement to our movement and to other women.

Bless us as we gather here in worship.

AMEN

ALL:
Romans 8:37–39

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 14:1–7

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

SCRIPTURE READINGS: (NIV)

1 Thessalonians 5:8–11

But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Reader:     This is the Word of the Lord.

ALL:     Thanks be to God.

PRAYERS  OF  INTERCESSION

Leader:

Let us pray for peace: peace between nations and between individuals.

Lord, help us to do our part to bring peace in our communities by our attitudes and actions. Guide our leaders working for peace.

Let us pray for all who are suffering in our world.

We pray for all who are struggling: whether to put food on the table, to stay in their own homes, or who are the victims of domestic violence. We pray for leaders who are supporting those in trouble and working to combat the effects of climate change. â€‹

AMEN
