THIS ORDER OF SERVICE was prepared by members of the National Committee of Australian Church Women Inc, with the theme for the present term 'Be Not Afraid'.
​
This service has the subtitle 'He Will Not Let Your Foot Slip'.
​
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL CUSTODIANS OF THE LAND
We acknowledge the First Nations peoples of Australia as the traditional custodians of this land.
We respect past and present Elders and are thankful for their wisdom which has sustained their people since the beginning of time.

Philippians 4:4–9
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—

WINIFRED KIEK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship is awarded annually and provides opportunity for the successful applicant to:

further her theological training or
-
attend a conference or study program that supports her work in her church or community or
-
use the funds to develop and support a designated educational or charitable project for women.

An offering will be received for the work of the Winfred Kiek Memorial Scholarship Trust during the singing of the following hymn.

DEDICATION AND PRAYER FOR THE SCHOLARS AND TRUST
God, our Father, we thank you for these monetary gifts for the WKMS Trust. We ask that you be with members of the Trust as they look at applications from women seeking to further their Biblical Studies.
​
We pray especially for this year's Scholars. Encourage them in their faith and ministry. We ask this in the name of Jesus.

Leader: Let us join together in the Lord's Prayer.
ALL: Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION
Leader: Let us pray for others.
​
​​Our God, our loving Father, we bring before you all people in our land, Australia, and all the peoples of the world.
We pray for people who are struggling with life – to put food on the table, to pay the bills, to find useful and satisfying employ-ment. Encourage them in their search.
We pray for leaders in our nation at every level. Give them wisdom in the decisions they make. May those decisions be for the good of all.
We pray for members of Australian Church Women and give thanks for the support they have given to the Winifred Kiek Scholarship over many years, which has enabled us to equip young women to share the Gospel in our land and the Asia-Pacific region.
We pray for those who have been affected by drought, bushfires and floods in our country. Help them to recover from the trauma caused and to rebuild their lives and homes.
We pray for those in other countries who have been affected by climatic events. We especially bring before you people in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Sri Lanka who have died because of intense storms. Please comfort their families.
We pray for rescue workers in our land and overseas who have worked hard to help the suffering to rebuild. May they know their efforts have encouraged many.
We pray for Peace: for all affected by conflict, all displaced from their homelands and all in refugee camps.
We pray that people will use the resources of the land carefully and not over exploit our natural resources.
God of mercy, Hear and answer our prayers.

BENEDICTION
Adapted from the prayer of Rev. Winifred Kiek at her ordination on 13 June 1927 and used as her final act of public ministry on 9 March 1975.

Leader: May the hope of a better world, a worthier life, a holier morrow, and a sweeter thanksgiving, inspire us all with patient continuance in well doing; and may grace, mercy and peace from Father, Son and Holy Spirit, remain with us now and always.

Winifred Kiek Memorial Scholarship
The offerings presented at Fellowship Day Services throughout Australia go towards the Winifred Kiek Memorial Scholarship to honour Rev. Winifred Kiek, the first woman to be ordained in Australia.

​
This scholarship is offered to Christian women of member countries of the Asian Church Women’s Conference, multicultural Australia, and Pacific Island Nations. The scholarship is used for supplementary training or further studies in theology and related fields.
