PRAYER OF CONFESSION

ALL:          Almighty and most merciful Father; We have erred and
strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the
devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy
holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have
done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done;
And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, who confess their faults.
Restore thou them that are penitent; According to thy promises
declared unto mankind in Christ Jesu our Lord. And grant, O most
merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live a godly,
righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

REFLECTION
(This may be read responsively.)

The church is the place where believers come together. Believers worship God together in the church. God wants us to work together in unity with a life that conquers the world. As the Burmese proverb says,

“One person alone fails, a thousand people succeed”.

There are times when a lot of money has to be spent to solve a big problem. Similarly, when there are times when most of us need to think cleverly to solve problems, we can only achieve victory when we combine our resources and skills to help each other.

In these difficult times, believers should help each other so that we can bear our burdens and difficulties. If we give as much as we can, we cannot only beautify the world but also pave the way for victory for the needy, the poor and the desperate. As the Apostle Paul pointed out, let us bear one another's burdens, and then we will obey the law of Christ and conquer the world.

Failure begins when believers are divided. The Burmese proverb “If a cow falls apart, a tiger will bite it.” shows that we must work together in unity. If believers are divided, Satan tempts us. While we are in this world, let us work together to pray for each other and build a life that overcomes Satan. The Bible also tells us to build a life that meets each other's needs. Therefore encourage one another and build up each other (I Thessalonians 5:11).

Only the true children of God overcome the world. We are told in I John 5:4 that the secret of victory over the world is faith in the Lord Jesus: For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world, and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

True children of God are never alone, but they pray for one another, work together, and counsel one another in unity. Let us live together in the belief that only through the Lord Jesus can we live a life that conquers the world.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ (I Corinthians 15:57).

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION (Psalm 46:1–11)

Leader:    God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

ALL:           Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
                   though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;

Leader:     Though its waters roar and foam,

                   though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

ALL:           There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,                          the holy habitation of the Most High.
Leader:     God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved;

                   God will help it when the morning dawns.
ALL:           The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter;

                   he utters his voice, the earth melts.
Leader:     The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
ALL:           Come, behold the works of the LORD;

                   see what desolations he has brought on the earth.
Leader:     He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the
                   bow, and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.
ALL:           “Be still and know that I am God! I am exalted in the earth.”
Leader:     The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

AMEN

PRAYER FOR OUR ACWC PRAYER PARTNER SRI LANKA

O Lord, we ask for your blessing on our Prayer Partner Sri Lanka. May the work among our members and their families be fruitful and supportive of their Christian lives. May your providence supply all their needs. May the Lord Jesus raise their spirits and increase their love for him and make them strong in diversity and gentle in their relationships with friends and family. May the Lord, the great Shepherd of his flock enfold them in his arms, and in his name we pray.

Amen

PRAYER FOR ACWC MEMBERS

O Lord, bring before you the needs of all our sisters in the Asian Church Women’s Conference.
Bless them and strengthen them as they continue to serve you and to bear witness to your Gospel, often in challenging circumstances.
We especially give thanks for our sisters in Myanmar who shared their gifts with us all in this liturgy.
We pray for peace in Myanmar and throughout the world.
Lord in your Mercy,
ALL: Hear our prayer.

Amen

THE STORY OF THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE LEAST COIN

The idea for the FLC emerged as a vision from God to Shanti Solomon of India.
     Shanti was part of the Pacific Mission Team, a group of seven women from different countries that traveled throughout Asia in 1956. The mission was organized by Dr. Margaret Shannon on behalf of the women of the Presbyterian Church of the United States of America (PCUSA).
     On this mission, Shanti heard stories from Asian women who had experienced abuse and trauma during the Second World War.
     Due to unfavourable diplomatic relations between India and South Korea at the time, Shanti was refused a visa to South Korea. So, she stayed in the Philippines and prayed about her experiences and the stories she had heard.
     The FLC was born in 1956, 12 years after World War 2.

ALL:      Today we hear of wars taking place in many places where many women, children                  and elderly die every day in camps. Like Shanti Solomon, may we respond                                prayerfully to their plight.

AMEN

BLESSING OF FELLOWSHIP OF THE LEAST COIN OFFERINGS

Leader: â€‹Our ‘least coin’ offerings are concrete tokens of our commitment to pray and work for justice, peace and reconciliation with God through the Fellowship of the Least Coin (FLC). You are now invited to bring forward your offering.

FELLOWSHIP OF THE LEAST COIN PRAYER (ALL)

Loving Creator, we come into your presence with deep gratitude for the longing and discontent that we feel.
Thank you for giving us ears to hear cries for justice, hearts to feel with those who are oppressed, and hands and feet to do something about it.
Be with us on this journey to justice, peace, and reconciliation.
When we’re afraid, teach us how to face our prejudices.
When we’re weary, remind us of the miracles of whispered prayers and least coins.
Loving Creator, help us to love like you and create anew the world you so love.

AMEN

THE LORD’S PRAYER (ALL)

                 Our Father in heaven,

                 hallowed be your name.

                 Your kingdom come,

                 Your will be done

                 on earth as in heaven.

                 Give us this day our daily bread.

                 Forgive us our sins,

                 as we forgive those who sin against us.

                 Save us from the time of trial

                 and deliver us from evil.

                 For the kingdom,

                 the power and the glory are yours

                 now and forever.

                 AMEN

BENEDICTION

Walk through the wounds of this world with courage
Mend the torn places with compassion,
And bear the light that no hatred can extinguish.

Wherever war rages,
Wherever injustice festers
Wherever division hardens hearts
–step into those places as a keeper of God’s harmony.

Let your life be a living sign that peace is possible,
Reconciliation is stronger than revenge,
And healing belongs to the whole human family.
This is the work of our time, and it belongs to us all.
AMEN
