    A Gift for ACW

This week Australian Church Women (ACW) received a generous gift from a relative of Maisie McKenzie, the woman who began the Northern Territory Unit of ACW. Earlier in the year, when I posted a second blog article on Maisie, after discovering she was also a prolific author, I wrote: ‘Unfortunately, none of Maisie’s books are in the ACW National Archives, so I’m appealing to readers of this blog who may have a copy which they would like to donate to the ACW Archives to help us

Looking back at the Vic Unit

The Victorian Unit of Australian Church Women (ACW) continued to be known as the Women’s Inter-Church Council (WICC) of Victoria until June 1977. Therefore, this week, in looking back at Victoria’s Annual Report for 1970, we see the unit referred to as the Women’s Inter-Church Council. Often the FLC information also kept members abreast of FLC correspondence, including the annual application for FLC grants. In this blog post are snippets concerning the FLC that I have extracted from a few 1975 issues of the Women at Work ACW newsletters. In 1975, Shanti

    Revisiting the 1978 ACWC Assembly

Last year, on 3 October 2020, I posted a blog on the 6th Assembly of the Asian Church Women’s Conference (ACWC) held at the Tozanso YMCA International Youth Centre, Gotemba, Japan. This event was held in the twentieth year since the ACWC first began. At the conclusion of the blog post, I wrote: ‘The office of the Asian Church Women's Conference does not have any photos from this assembly, nor does Australian Church Women. If you know the whereabouts of any photos, please cont

    Second things first

A couple of ‘second’ things have occurred lately for Australian Church Women (ACW) as we continue the journey through the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic. For the second year, our recent World Community Day Service has been hosted as a virtual event on our ACW website, and now our ACW blog has celebrated its second birthday. In keeping with second things, this week’s blogpost is about an event that was recorded in the second official year of Australian Church Women, in t
